North of Denmark and Oslo

For the Easter weekend of 2022 we decided to explore northern Denmark and take a cruise trip to Oslo.

We started by flying to Aalborg and then by train to Skagen, which is the town at the northerst part of Denmark. It was quite easy to get to by public transport from the airport to the end by bus and train. Also to our surprise the local train lines compare to the regional ones are affordable. That goes also for Copenhagen area.

In Skagen we went for a walk to through old WW2 bunkers and ended up in the sea point where two oceans (sea) meet. Wandering back throught the plains and little forest.

There is also a dune on the north, so we took a afternoon trip to visit it and it was quite special to get there as we hitched hiked for part of it. The dune itself is quite big and it is a special moment as you can see just sand around and quite a nice view from the top as well.

When thinking where to go next to go south, it seems we needed a car for our next adventure, so we decided instead to go to Oslo with an overnight cruise ship from Frederiskhavn.

We spent afternoon in Frederiskhavn and went to a highest hill in Denmark (probably? 🙂 ) Afterthat we went to BBQ all you can eat and had many different kinds of meat including kangaroo. We had to wait for our midnight cruise to arrive and then boarded and enjoyed silent and midnight ocean.

Next morning we arrived and took a trip to nearby mountains. It was quite funny as you could go with a local train to the top and then ski down – there was a last day to ski as it just started to be warm with leftover snow. Hike through forest was nice as we took improvized unmarked route without people.

Next day we did a few monuments and flew back. We kinda fell in love with Norway and decided to come back eventually and we did. Our next trip is Lofoten.
